The “Description” can now be edited in your Google Plus account, in the “Story” field
You may have noticed that starting 1-st of August, you can not see your Description field in GMB. That being said, the Story in my Google Plus account has been populated automatically with all the info from your GMB page.
The official announcement has been done by Google on this page and also in the notifications tab of your GMB.
You might wonder why this had happened. The answer is not officially published by Google, but we can guess it: keyword stuffing! People think that the description will help them with SEO, and they actually forget to promote their business in a clean way.
The history tends to repeat itself, just like 2009 when Google removed the PR because the SEO experts out there were abusing it.
What should you do about it?
90% of the people will do the same thing with their Google Plus Story field as they think it will help them rank higher.
The rest of 10% will continue to use clean SEO techniques.
