Google is testing out 3-rd party reviews to be published on GMB listing.
Google My Business will show in the Google Maps search results, the reviews from other platforms.
This is a huge update, as this is the first time when Google shows 3-rd party reviews on their platform. While it is for now in testing in some areas in the USA, it is very likely to be rolled out soon.
What is the benefit of doing this?
Google noticed that people don’t just search for a service on Google Maps, but they also search it on Yelp and other external platforms. So merging this in one view will make the user’s life easier.
The platforms where these 3-rd party reviews are taken from are not published yet, but for sure Yelp is one of them. In our tests, they differ from niche to niche.
Downsides of this update?
If you have bad reviews on some platforms, you better get working on them and make sure they reflect the reality. With 4.5 stars on Google and 2.0 stars on Yelp, you will surely lose credibility.
